Great Day at the Great Escape
On the 17th of February 2016, Mindarie Senior College’s Year 11 cohort descended upon Hillarys Boat Harbour for an exciting day at The Great Escape. The students flooded in to the venue heading straight for the thrilling water slides. Others ran straight for the Wacky Putt. The weather was a perfect blend of sunshine and heat.
As the day progressed students got involved in a fun and highly competitive Volleyball competition. The mentor classes were pitted against each other in the court with only a few emerging victorious.
With the adrenalin still pumping from the volleyball competition, students were whisked quickly on to the tug-of-war. Students put their full strength in to pulling the rope to gain victory. Others were not so lucky and ended up ploughing in to the sand.
The annual sand sculpture competition, a favourite amongst students and teachers alike was judged this year by Mr Gendle, Mrs Robinson and Mr Lilywhite. The trio looked over each Mentor group with a critical eye. The Mentors used countless props and colours to create their masterpieces. Eventually Mentor’s 11.12 and 11.13 were announced victorious in the first round with their Incredibly detailed turtle (with the addition of baby turtles heading to the ocean). Mentor 11.18 was then announced the round two winners for their formidable Jaws inspired shark.
Mindarie Senior College provided students with an exciting and enthralling experience. As everyone departed the boat harbour it was clear that new friendships had formed and that a fantastic day was had by all.
