Course Outline

Semester 1 – G1DAN – Exploring the components of dance

Students are introduced to:

• Practical & theoretical dance lessons
• Manipulating the elements of dance
• Skills and Techniques for different genres, including commercial Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop
• Performance qualities
• Dance Language

Semester 2 – G2DAN – Dance as entertainment

• How dance functions as entertainment
• Sade Dance Practice and Fitness for a Dancer
• Skills and Techniques
• Various genres including Lyrical, Broadway and/or Hip Hop
• Design concepts and Technologies e.g. costumes
• Performance at Mindarie Senior College Dance Night
