2024 World’s Greatest Shave
On Thursday, the 2nd May the College came together for the World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser to support the Leukaemia Foundation and help raise money for vital research for blood cancers like lymphoma, leukaemia and myeloma.
This is the 10th year the College has supported the cause and it was a wonderful event with five students and two staff willing to shave their head for the cause.
There was a nervous energy in the air as students gathered in the atrium and mezzanine to see our brave volunteers remove their beloved locks.
Our teachers, Mrs Lillywhite and Mrs Johnson have raised over $3900 for the foundation so far, with the goal being to raise more than $5,000!
Mrs Lillywhite was willing to let students cut of a section of her hair for a small donation. As well as students lining up to take advantage of cutting their teachers hair, Mrs Lillywhite’s mum joined in the fun!
A big shout out to these brave students for shaving their heads:
- Daniella Paol
- Mason Edgeloe
- Tallen Henzier
- Charlie Hand
- Oliver Camail
After the head shaving, more students were lining up to have 20cm of their hair cut off. All hair donations can be used, to either soak up oil spills or if more than 20cm in length, the hair is used in the production of wigs.
While the excitement of the hair shaving/cutting was going on, other activities were run for students to get involved in – hair colouring, leg waxing, a sausage sizzle, and live music performances.
All MSC students are to be congratulated for their involvement and participation throughout the afternoon and it was fantastic to see the show of support for the event.
The College community raised over $400 on the day which will be added to the funds already raised and help reach the $5000 goal.
Donations can still be made HERE.
A big thank you to our hairdressers on the day, our Chaplain Ms Peacock and our Manager of Maths and Science, Mr McQueen.
Thanks also to the Student Services team who organised the day, the Year 11 and 12 Student Councillors for running the stalls, all staff who helped with the setup and packup, our music students for entertaining the crowd and all students who participated on the day.
