2024 R U OK Day
R U OK Day 2024!!!
On Thursday, 6 September the College community came together during mentor and lunch to get involved in all the R U OK Day activities the Student Services team worked so hard to organise for the students.
Due to the weather being unkind, the Student Services team had to move the event to the undercover basketball court. We were extremely fortunate that the sun shone throughout the event, only raining again once students were back in class.
Students were free to roam between activities which included an animal farm, roving illusionist, Chips on a Stick, Fairy Floss, ice cream van and the Game Vault.
As usual the animal farm was a huge hit and students couldn’t get enough of the Chips on a Stick or the Fairy Floss. The Magician had the student in awe as they tried to work out his magic while some students took the opportunity to chill in the Game Room.
Staff wore yellow and black R U OK shirts and donned R U OK badges to show their support of the day and there was a bit of competition between staff to capture the best selfie with the Alpaca which is tradition on R U OK Day at the College.
R U OK Day is one way the College encourages students to start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life and to encourage them to keep active, connect with others and do something meaningful = ABC – Act-Belong-Commit.
‘R U OK Day’ is an Australian non-profit suicide prevention organisation, founded in 2009 which advocates for people to have conversations with other to make sure they are doing OK. Have you asked someone if they are OK today?
A big thank you to the Student Services Team for putting the event together and all students and staff for ensuring a positive and fun afternoon for all.
