2024 Arts Week
On the 2nd of September, the Arts Department opened its annual ‘Arts Week’ event.
The event started on Monday, 2 September with an art exhibition by the Year 11 & 12 Visual Arts. Sebastian Hatchett was awarded the year 12 Art Acquisition award which was donated and presented by Member for Burns Beach, Mr Mark Folkard MLA.
The Principal’s Greeting Card award was given to a group of 9 Year 11 General students -Amy Lee, Abi Welsh, Emer Jordan, Nicole Leung, Boston Carter, Summer Lewkowski, Lily Kerr, Isabelle Toia and Ashlee Piccles. Their artwork will be turned into the 2024 College Greeting Card which will be used for end of year thank you by the Principal, Jonathan Bromage.
All exhibitors should be congratulated for a fantastic display of work.
Following the art exhibition, the Year 11 and 12 General and ATAR Drama students performed in ‘Illusion’. The students wrote and produced all their own performances, and the range of talents and performances were remarkable.
Tuesday,4 September commenced with a display from our talented Photography and our Media Production students who showcased their creativeness with their own productions covering a range of genres. Following the display, our Year 11 and 12 dance students performed their showcase, ‘This is how we do it’ to a sold-out audience. The ATAR Dance students’ solo performances left us amazed and the group performances were incredible to watch and the costumes were spectacular as usual.
Arts Week wrapped up on Wednesday, 5 September with the Year 11 and 12 Music students show ‘Finger Pickin Good’ which was a fabulous finale for the week. The Year 12 students treated the audience with their original songs that they recorded and produced for the Year 12 Music original album (on a USB) which is available to purchase from the College Reception for $10.00 each. We were also treated to a guest appearance from the band ‘Mimo’ featuring three former students who graduated in 2023.
Congratulations to all students who received awards for their work over the three nights and to all the students who were involved in Arts Week, either performing, designing sets, photographing, or recording the events.
A big thank you to all the Art Department staff for their effort and time that was required to put on three amazing nights – Mr Reese Driscoll, Mr Ben Bradshaw, Ms Tara Brown, Mrs Bree Chester, Mr James Dixon and our lighting, sound and our overall everything staff member Mr Jake Tomlinson.n
