2023 Year 11 Colours Evening for Semester 1
It was another wonderful night of celebrations on Tuesday, 8 August when over 140 parents and staff came together to recognise our Year 11 students who received their first Colours Award.
Seventy-one students were recognised and awarded their Year 11 Semester One Colours Award badge and certificate for their excellent achievement in a range of fields including academic, endeavour, community and performance.
Special thanks to our invited guest Mr Mark Folkard MLA, Member for Burns Beach for attending the evening and helping present some awards.
The College would like to thank our guest speaker and former student Thien Nguyen (2013) for taking the audience on his journey since leaving Mindarie Senior College. Thien explained the importance of seeking mentor and course teachers help when needed and explained that it is OK if you don’t know what you want to do when you finish senior school. He urged students to step out of their comfort zone after school, as that is how you learn, and you never stop learning. Thien is now an engineer at Wood Australia an engineering consultancy in Perth.
A special acknowledgement goes to our music students who all gave exceptional performances throughout the evening – Suna Wallace, Mackenzie Goodall, who performed while the guests mingled and Jia McDonnell, Raul Castillo, Jaxson Marsh and Lochlan Mitchell who performed ‘Runaway Baby’ by Bruno Mars in the PA Space. Thank you also to the College Cafe for the light refreshments served in the Atrium prior to the presentations.
