2023 R U Ok Day?
R U OK Day 2023!!!
On Thursday, 8 September the College community came together on the oval during mentor and lunch to get involved in all the activities the Student Services team worked so hard to organise.
Everyone was entertained by the amazing talents of the boys from Freestyle Now who showed us their style on their BMX bikes for over an hour with huge aerials and spins in the air!
Students were free to roam between activities which included an animal farm, inflatable dualling, roving illusionist, an op shop, sausage sizzle, ice cream van, fairy floss and a huge chess game while listening to the tunes being broadcast across the oval.
Staff wore yellow R U OK shirts and donned R U OK badges to show their support of the day and there was a bit of competition between staff and students to capture the best selfie with the Alpaca which is tradition on R U OK Day at the College.
Proceeds from the event will be used by the Year 11 Living Independently students to purchase items for care packages which will be donated to the Patricia Giles Centre.
Today’s event is another way the College encourages students to be mentally healthy by being active, having a sense of belonging, and having a purpose in life which all contributes to good mental health.
‘R U OK Day’ is an Australian non-profit suicide prevention organisation, founded in 2009 which advocates for people to have conversations with other to make sure they are doing OK. Have you asked someone if they are OK today?
A big thank you to the Student Services Team for putting the event together and all students and staff for ensuring a positive and fun afternoon for all.
